Lost for 37 Years: Jim Morrison’s Stolen Bust mysteriously reappears!
Jim Morrison’s bust, stolen from his grave at the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris in 1988, was found by pure chance after 37 years.
French police discovered the sculpture during a search connected to a fraud investigation.
The bust, created by Croatian sculptor Mladen Mikulin, was originally installed in 1981 to mark the 10th anniversary of Morrison’s death. Despite weighing 128 kg, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and the identity of the thief was never discovered.
The recovered sculpture is practically intact, although it had already suffered a broken nose and was covered in graffiti before disappearing.
It is still unclear whether the bust will be returned to its original place at Morrison’s Camp. Benoît Gallot, curator of Père Lachaise, said police have not yet contacted them regarding his return.
The news has thrilled The Doors fans worldwide, as Morrison’s grave is one of the cemetery’s most visited locations, often adorned with messages, candles and flowers.
